About Anthea

Anthea began her formal artistic journey in 1948 studying painting at East Sydney Technical College under eminent artists Douglas Dundas, Frank Hinder and Godfrey Miller. On completion of her painting Diploma she spent her early years teaching art and in 1955-56 lived in the UK and travelled extensively in Europe. She relocated to Kingston Jamaica in 1957-58 where she worked as a commercial artist and travelled in the USA and Mexico. In 1959 she returned to Australia, married, had a family and has continued her painting career to this day.

Over the years Anthea has painted consistently and exhibited extensively working in a variety of genres and media and in 1986 completed an Associate Diploma in Printmaking at the Canberra School of Art. Over the last sixty years she has exhibited in Kingston Jamaica and Australia including Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Cooma, Bega and Kyogle. Anthea has been the recipient of numerous art awards including; Winner - Environment Centre Art Show, Forrest ACT in 1978; Winner - Best Contemporary Painting, Caltex Art Awards, Bega NSW in both 1978 and 1981 and Winner - Caltex Art Award, Bega NSW in 1985.

Her work is represented in the Australian National University ACT, the University of Wollongong NSW and in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, Jamaica, Sweden, Finland and Germany.
